Director of Lifelong Learning
Your First Visit
Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the service starts to meet with our family greeter just inside the sanctuary doors!
The family greeter on duty will introduce you to our Director of Lifelong Learning who will help direct your family to the appropriate space(s) for worship.
On your first visit, you may fill out a visitor information card for your family. After your initial visit, we will ask you to complete registration paperwork for our RE program. This will help us ensure that we have all of the necessary information to adequately provide care for your child(ren). Registration paperwork can be found at the family greeter desk, the nursery, or in the box outside of the RE Office.
A Welcoming RE Program
We strive to be a welcoming congregation for all. To this end, we understand the age is often not an effective indicator of the most comfortable classroom environment. We are committed to helping all our families find the most appropriate classroom setting for their child's individual needs.
During the Summer
We offer a multi-age program for children who have completed Pre-K through 5th grade. This program runs during our single worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Children begin with their families in the sanctuary and leave with their volunteer teachers after a story for all ages. Nursery care is provided for children ages four and under by our early childhood education staff.
Our nursery is located just outside of the adult worship space. Upon check-in, parents/guardians are provided with pagers to notify them of any needs that arise during the service. Our nursery is staffed by trained Early Childhood Education (ECE) professionals. Parents are always welcome to stay with their little ones in the nursery or to bring them into the sanctuary.
During the School Year
Following the Labor Day weekend, our program moves to two services. Children seven and up, along with youth, are welcome to attend the 9:30 AM service in the sanctuary with their families. Children under the age of seven are welcome to join our Rainbow Connections program in the nursery. We offer RE classes for infants through 12th grade students during the 11:15 AM service.
Infants, Toddlers, and Young Preschoolers
During the 9:30 AM service, our Rainbow Connections program is provided by our early childhood education staff for infants up to the age of six. During the 11:15 AM service, children up to the age of four are invited to participate in our Rainbow Connections program. The Rainbow Connections program allows young children to begin to explore elements of Unitarian Universalism though songs, finger plays, art, sensory activities, and stories.
Children in Pre-K through fifth grade begin their worship at the 11:15 AM service with their families in the sanctuary. After the story for all ages, children exit with their RE leaders to large main room in the adjacent RE building. They participate in our SpiritPlayTM program which offers a Montessori based experience with opportunities for whole group and independent exploration of our world and it's beings.
Youth between sixth and eighth grades begin their worship at the 11:15 AM service in their RE classroom. They participate in our Lodestone program which provides opportunities for them to explore Unitarian Universalism as a history and as a personal practice.
Youth between ninth and twelfth grades begin their worship at the 11:15 AM service in their RE classroom. They participate in our Social Justice Makers program which allows them to being to apply Unitarian Universalist principles outside of our congregation.
Both youth classrooms are located upstairs in the RE building adjacent to the sanctuary.
RE Staff and Volunteers
All RE staff members and volunteers undergo a rigorous interview process and background check to ensure that they will provide your family with optimum care. We provide training sessions and resources throughout the year to ensure that our volunteers and staff members are equipped with most up-to-date information about growth and development.
