Our Green Team aims to boost environmental awareness and to undergird our sustainability practices at church, in our households, and in our workplaces to create a "Green Sanctuary" in which to live, work and worship.

"Green Sanctuary" projects encompass other UU principles as well as the seventh, such as respecting the worth and dignity of all people, supporting justice and compassion, and working towards peace and liberty for all. Therefore, we are called not only to work towards increased sustainability, but also to promote environmental justice in our local communities.

test toys for toxins"Environmental justice" is the recognition that the same paradigm of dominion that has led to environmental degradation also reinforces economic and social inequities. Only by seeking solutions that address both can we solve either.

The Green Team aims to meet every two months or so to straighten up the recycling shed, update displays and train new volunteers, after which, we have lunch together at a local eatery. All interested are welcome to join in. We also have volunteer openings all the time. Contact greenteam@uucvan.org.

Given our human capacity to reflect and act upon our own lives as well as the condition of the world, we accept with humility and determination our responsibility to remedy and mitigate global warming/climate change through innovation, cooperation, and self-discipline. We undertake this work for the preservation of life on Earth.
