Our Next Minister

Announcing: Rev. Kathryn Bert

BERT-KATHRYNsmWe on the search team are beyond pleased to announce that UUCV has called our next minister (also referred to as our settled minister).  The Rev. Kathryn Bert has been a lifelong Unitarian Universalist. After two years in the Peace Corps where she met her husband Stuart Campbell, Kathryn and her family settled in central Washington where she was a bilingual teacher. Kathryn felt the call to ministry in the early 2000s and moved to Chicago to enroll in seminary. She has served as the Senior Minister at the UU Church of Greater Lansing for the last 15 years.

Personally, Rev. Bert is warm and funny. She is able to connect with people at all stages of life and works well kathrynwith staff, UUA members, and interfaith colleagues. Rev. Bert is creative and energetic in her sermons as well as being comprehensive and thoughtful in all her ministries. She works hard with congregational leaders to create a holy experience in and out of the pulpit.

To paraphrase from her ministerial record, Kathryn and Stuart have a grown son, Theo, who has recently launched and a standard poodle, Nutmeg who is still at home. They are very excited for the opportunity to be moving back to the pacific northwest to be closer to family and to start a new chapter with us.

Thank you all, to the members and friends of UUCV, to the Board of Trustees, to Rev. Duane Fickeisen, to Rev. Keith Kron, to our other precandidates and initial applicants, and to our spouses and loved ones who listened to us talk of nothing else for the last year.  You all are the reason we did this.
